Make this creamy, rich beer cheese dip in under 15 minutes. It delivers bold, pub-style flavor perfect for game day or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup lager beer (like a pale ale or pilsner)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Shred the sharp cheddar cheese if you did not buy it pre-shredded.
  2. Place the shredded cheese, softened cream cheese, beer, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using) into a medium saucepan.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Continue stirring until all the cheese is completely melted and the dip is smooth and velvety. Do not let the mixture boil.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat. The dip will thicken slightly as it cools.
  6. Serve the warm beer cheese dip immediately with your favorite dippers.

Notes

  • For the creamiest texture, shred your own cheese instead of using pre-shredded varieties, which contain anti-caking agents.
  • Use a beer you enjoy drinking, such as a light lager or a mild amber ale.
  • This dip is best served warm. If it cools too much, reheat gently on the stovetop over low heat, stirring often.
