Make this incredibly easy Cherry Dump Cake using just three basic ingredients: cherry pie filling, yellow cake mix, and butter. This foolproof baking recipe delivers a warm, bubbly, and gooey fruit dessert perfect for last-minute potlucks or weeknight treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish. Spread the filling evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry filling. Do not mix the layers.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherry filling is bubbly around the edges.
  6. Let the dump cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm. Serve with vanilla ice cream for the best experience.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute the yellow cake mix with white cake mix or butter cake mix.
  • If you want a slightly crispier topping, you can use slightly less butter, about 1/3 cup.
  • This dessert is excellent served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped topping.
  • To make a Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake variation, use chocolate cake mix instead of yellow cake mix.
