Make this easy Caramel Apple Dump Cake with only four ingredients. This recipe delivers warm, gooey apple pie flavor with minimal effort, perfect for fall gatherings or a quick comfort dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup caramel bits or caramels, unwrapped and chopped
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the entire can of apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Do not drain the filling.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple filling layer.
  4. Scatter the caramel bits or chopped caramels over the cake mix layer.
  5. Pour the melted butter evenly over the top layer, covering as much of the dry mix as possible.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly around the edges.
  7. Let the dump cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker version, layer ingredients as directed in a greased slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or on HIGH for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • If you do not have caramel bits, you can substitute with 1 cup of soft caramel candies, unwrapped and roughly chopped.
  • You can substitute the yellow cake mix with white or butter flavor cake mix for slight variations.
